Where one parent has primary care of the children, the other parent usually is granted the right to exercise access to the children. When we meet with our clients, we discuss the issues related to access and consider the amount of access which would best suit our client's unique situation. Our goal is to arrive at a plan for access which satisfies the needs of our client, the child, and the other parent.
For many clients, mediation is a helpful tool for negotiating access. We encourage our clients to consider mediation and negotiation to arrive at workable access schedules, or to settle other disputes at issue. Where possible, it is important to develop a plan for access which is agreeable to both parents so that family disharmony and tension is reduced.
If there have been any recent changes to the existing arrangements for access to your child or if any are proposed or if you need assistance to obtain access to your children, please call our lawyers. In many cases it is extremely important that you act quickly to protect your rights.
