M.E. (Peggy) Walden limits her practice to assisting clients in resolving their disputes without court intervention. She recently completed 6 years on the Board of the Association of Collaborative Professionals (Calgary), including 3 years as Chair and Co-chair. Peggy has practiced Collaborative Family Law since it was introduced in Calgary in 2000. Peggy also conducts mediations for parties and has been a Dispute Resolution Officer for the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta since 2003.
Peggy has extensive education in Dispute Resolution, including two courses from Harvard University, Program on Negotiation in 2006. Peggy has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary (1986) and an LLB from Queen’s University (1989). Since being admitted to the bar in 1990, Peggy has practiced almost exclusively in the area of family law and has a broad base of experience in family law, addressing all issues that might arise when relationships break down, including, distribution of assets and liabilities, child support, spousal support, parenting arrangements and all of the issues that must be addressed in order to resolve disputes in those areas.
Peggy has made presentations and submitted papers to the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association Family Law Section and volunteers to teach negotiation to articling students. Peggy also sits on the Board of the Association of Collaborative Lawyers of Alberta.
Peggy’s goal is to help her clients resolve their family law matters in a manner that allows each party to retain their dignity and integrity while ensuring that her client’s goals and needs are met to the fullest extent possible in the overall circumstances.
