Wayne A. Barkauskas
Mr. Barkauskas was called to the bar in 1992 and practices family law exclusively. His past corporate law experience and degree in psychology are valuable tools in his practice. Mr. Barkauskas is also a qualified mediator and arbitrator in all areas of family law and is a proponent of the use of mediation and other alternative dispute mechanisms in appropriate circumstances to minimize the uncertainty, delays, and costs associated with litigation. He is a registered Collaborative Law Lawyer and a Registered Parent Coordinator as well.
In addition to his training in alternative methods of dispute resolution, he has extensive Court experience in all levels of Canadian Courts in several Provinces, and in other jurisdictions such as the United States, Europe, Asia and South America.
Mr. Barkauskas is a past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association South Alberta Family Law section, has been an Alberta representative to the National CBA Family Law Committee, is on Counsel of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch, as well as National Counsel, and is a member of the University of Calgary Judicial Review Board.
Mr. Barkauskas has often been an instructor of family law for lawyers continuing education programs. He has also taught negotiation skills and family law to new lawyers as part of the Bar Admission Course. He sits on the Board of other community organizations as well and is an appointed Dispute Resolution Officer for the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.
Mr. Barkauskas’ primary focus is to resolve his client's family law difficulties in the most efficient, cost-effective and fairest manner possible.
