Stephanie K.Y. Lo

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Stephanie joined Wise Scheible Barkauskas in 2018.  She first gained an interest in family law as a summer law student with Alberta Justice researching family law reform.  After articling with a general practice firm in Edmonton, Stephanie decided to focus her practice in family law.  Stephanie has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta on family law matters.

Stephanie was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and obtained her B.A. in English (High Honors) and Media Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.  While studying literature and film at Berkeley, Stephanie realized how much she loves stories about people.  Stephanie is very interested in the personal stories of her clients and she aims to tell them authentically and compassionately.

After completing her B.A., Stephanie’s desire to see and explore Western Canada led her to the University of Alberta where she obtained her J.D.  While in law school, Stephanie volunteered with the Law Students’ Association and Student Legal Services.  Stephanie really appreciates how volunteering and the practice of law allow her to work with people from many different backgrounds.  She wants to learn about her clients’ life experiences so that she can find the solution that best meets their and their family’s needs.

Stephanie’s approach to her family law practice is to vigorously defend her clients’ rights when necessary but to focus on collaboration and settlement when possible.

Outside work, Stephanie loves trying new restaurants, going to the cinema, seeing live theatre, and running.  Stephanie is fluent in Cantonese.
